On a lovely spring evening, Saturday, May 23, 2009, about three dozen Friends of Bolin Creek gathered on the idyllic Lloyd-Andrews Historic Farmstead to celebrate a very successful year and enjoy a splendid picnic.

The Bolin Creek Harmony Boys entertained the group, including guest of honor Mark Chilton - Mayor of Carrboro, with a medley of love songs and musical hits. The new treasurer, Bruce Sinclair, was introduced, plans were announceded for the 6th Annual Bolin Creek Festival next fall and Emily Weinstein led discussion of the Bolin Creek Mural which will be painted, in part, at the festival.

We are grateful to Jean Earnhardt for again extending her kind hospitality to us to share this beautiful place near the headwaters of Bolin Creek. The farmstead has been passed down in the Lloyd-Andrews family since it was established in the 1760’s as a land grant from Lord Granville. It was wonderful to share the evening with old friends and exciting to welcome many new friends.

We hope that you will join us in planning the festival and in our program of walks and other activities next fall! If you would like to help with the festival, contact Dave Otto at davidaotto@earthlink.net. If you would like to help with the Bolin Creek mural, contact Emily Weinstein at weinsteinart@bellsouth.net.
